First Torpropel Workshop at Technical University of Munich

On 15 July 2026, we held the first TorPropel Workshop 🛠️ at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and online.

🌐 The workshop brought together participants from academia, research organisations and industry to discuss how toroidal propeller technology could contribute to quieter, more efficient and more sustainable aviation.

🗣️ During the event, the TorPropel consortium presented the project concept, objectives and early technical approach — from aerodynamic and aeroacoustic optimisation, structural and aeroelastic design, vitrimer-based recyclable composites and Rapid Tow Shearing manufacturing, to embedded structural health monitoring and composite repair methodologies.

🛩️ From the end-user perspective, we believe the workshop helped bring the concept and goals of TorPropel closer to the professional community. It was also a valuable opportunity to discuss what kind of evidence will be needed before toroidal propellers can be considered as a credible future aviation technology.
